Heat’s On Us

Exhibit and Graphic Design

The Heat’s on Us is a conceptual, environmental exhibition centred on climate awareness through smart copy.

The heat’s on us. To the occasion, we rise. Let’s grow together. Together, these three headlines represent a typical story: A problem occurs, but one that we can tackle together, and that we’ll recover from. When this copy is associated with environmental imagery and supporting information, the double entendres are now easily noticed by the reader.

Do you feel uncomfortable?

The visuals are utterly simple and stripped back, inspired by Swiss design. This allows for the copy to continue stealing the show. However, the visual design does serve one more purpose – and most people won’t notice it.

Something is a little off. The paragraph columns are different widths, breaking the sacred grid. The crops and margins are all different. Why aren’t things aligned? This breaks traditional graphic design principles.

These style choices subtly but intentionally enforce the subject matter. Climate change isn’t simple. And it definitely shouldn’t make you feel comfortable.
