Touch grass.
The concept for the Disconnect & Reconnect Parks Canada campaign came from one simple idea: returning to our roots. In the digital age that we live in, I believe it’s critical that people can access and appreciate the natural world around us.
Business lingo and tech jargon often wiggle their way into our normal speech patterns far more than we’d care to admit. Where did they even originate from? The idea of pairing these phrases, things we say everyday often while looking at a screen, with imagery that matches more literal meanings became the basis for the campaign. Clearly tongue-in-cheek, the irony and juxtaposition that the finished pieces present comes naturally (no pun intended).

Pen to paper.
It’s easier than ever to bring an idea to life digitally in a moment. This is by no means a bad thing. In fact, the accessibility that the current state of design tools enable is one of my favourite aspects of our industry.
Personally though, some of my best ideas have still came from messy sketches and creative brainstorming discussions with peers and colleagues.
